4月10日，中科院计算所郭嘉丰博士和兰艳艳博士应陈竹敏老师邀请访问实验室，并为软件园校区师生做了一场精彩的学术报告。报告会由陈竹敏老师主持，马军教授及信息检索实验室全体师生参加了报告会。

讲座题目：
Web Seach: Filling the Information Gap (Jiafeng Guo)
Learning to Rank for Information Retrieval: Algorithm and Theory (Yanyan Lan)

讲座内容摘要： The primary goal of Web search is to effectively fill the information gap between user needs and Web data. To fulfill this goal, one needs to well understand and represent users’ queries, understand and process Web data, and make smart matching between the two. In this talk, we will introduce the research work of our team in recent years, which covers the three most important aspects of Web search. Specifically, Jiafeng Guo will cover the topics of query understanding and representation, document understanding and processing, and a research platform. While Yanyan Lan will cover the topics of ranking algorithms and theories.
